Stephanie started taking Orap last night for tics.Today her doctor gave her a prescription for Diflucan(for a yeast inf.).She has been on antibiotics for 2 months because she has had Strep throat 3 times and it caused a yeast infection.I got the prescription filled and read the leaflet when I got home.Diflucan is not supposed to be taken with Orap and can have a deadly reaction. What if I couldn't read and she took it together? Why didn't the drug store tell me this?

I am going to beack up Sue on this one...YELL at the pharmacy, especially if they filled both at the same time. I dated a guy who had a cousin die b/c of something very similar, just differnt drugs. Needless to see her family will never have to work again.

Stephanie came home from school yesterday and she seemed like she was not even on Concerta. My sister in law works in the school library and called to ask if she had taken her med.She said that Stephanie could not quit talking.I looked up orap on the internet and read that when you take concerta with it, the orap blunts the effects of concerta. She was in full speed till bedtime.I called the doctor and told him that I was stopping the Orap and starting back with Clonidine 3 x a day and lowering the concerta. That is my baby that could have been hurt.I don't like putting her on anything but especially something that has so many side effects and interactions with other meds. The behavior specialist prescribed the orap. The pediatrician prescribed the diflucan the next day and I told him that she was on orap.He had never heard of it.He should have looked it up or something. The pharmacy should keep a record on what you are taking because it was only a day apart and the same pharmacy. It is good to read as much as you can about adhd and the medicines that your kids take. They are so prescious even if they do get on our nerves sometimes.I wouldn't take anything in the world for my two babies.Hugs ,Brenda
