My son also has had a nasty ear infection and it seems like he's on NO MEDS AT ALL. He hasn't had an ear infection in 2 years, and he only got a cold 1 time this past year. Even with the cold, meds didn't seem to work. Is this common? We had added Buspar for anxiety a few days before he got sick. I was thinking the Buspar was the cause, but now I'm not so sure. I guess I should stay the course.
He got sick while on vacation and the dr. that saw him wants him rechecked at home 10 days after starting antibiotics. Hopefully there is no damage.

I don't give Honey meds when he is sick. He is like a zombie, just lays in bed and watches TV. I also NEVER give him cold medicine. Lots of cold medicines can't be mixed with stims, even if he has had no meds I steer clear of cold medicines, they make him really hyper. Some kids get tired and others act like nuts, Honey is a nut.
Maybe he seems worse b/c he is in pain? If the ear hurts that might make him agitated, I know it does for both of my kids (one ADHD and one not.)
Hope he's feeling better!!!

Another thought could be he's reacting to dyes or additives in the antibiotic. Also my ds reacts strongly to candida (yeast) and the antibiotics kill normal intestinal floura and yeast organisms flourish and his behavior is terrible--aggressive. It's such a double bind; you sometimes need antibiotics but it creates such a behavioral mess when he takes them. I use eccinacea (sp?) and anything to support the immune system and avoid them if at all possible. Good luck; hope he's better soon.
