has anyone experienced that it seems like all of a sudden meds are not working like before? On fri and sat. my son did not seem in control of himself at all. The calm collected child that has been with us for so long now was gone. But then ironically yesterday when we had two major parties to got where I was the host of both, he did great. What is that all about. Is it time for an increase or does this happen from time to time?

I think this can definitely happen - and unfotunately increases are sometimes necessary. This is something that has always worried me a little because sometimes i wonder whether it will be necessary to constantly increase ... and there must be a limit to that !! ...
HOWEVER, (this is my own personal belief and not to my knowledge backed up by any solid data!) I always find that when my son has a break from meds at weekends - the increases do NOT seem so necessary. i.e. the meds seem to have a "boost" again after a weekend break .... and therefore it helps in preventing needing an increase.... My own son has been on 36 mg of Concerta for 2 years. At one point it was suggested we try 54 mg and at that point we felt he needed an increase ... (and at that time he took no breaks). However, since giving him breaks at weekends we are finding that 36 mg is working fine again.... so the increase hasn't been necessary. As I say though this is only what we have personally found and it is also not necessarily practical for every child to take weekend breaks....
Will be interested to hear what others think and GOOD LUCK!!

An increase may be necessary, but I agree with Ann.
IMHO, if we give Honey a break for a day or two and he runs around like a nut and gets under everyone's skin then start up again they seem to work better. I also think this just may be our perception because they were so crazy the previous day or two.
I also notice that Honey's meds do not seem as effective if something else is going on. If there is increased stress or he is getting sick he just gets nuts.

I spoke with my sons teacher this morning and she said he was fine in school, nothinh unusual. She did say this morning he was having a hard time with his math test, but we believe that is because he is anxious about it. he recierved 100 % on the last two tests and I think he feels he needs to live up to that. Antway, I think I will wait itrout over the vacation It probably is the stress of holidays etc. then anything else.
