Second day on Adderall XR

I just started my 10-yr old DS on a starter dose of 10 mg of Adderall XR. The doctor said not to expect to see any changes within the first week at this dose. I'm curious if that has been other people's experience. My doctor said to call after a week, and if there is no change, he will increase the dose to 20 mg.

I will see my son's teacher tomorrow morning to see what her impressions are of the first day. My ds has been complaining about stomach pains, but that may not be related at all since he often has stomach aches. The only thing that's different is that he is (as I write this) doing homework that isn't due for two more days!! Perhaps that's coincidental. Perhaps he just likes the cut and paste geometry. Who knows?! I'm not complaining!

For background info: my ds is ADD/Inattentive, no hyperactivity, so as the doctor said, sometimes the effects of the meds are not as obvious.

What is your experience with Adderall XR in 10 mg dose?

I have a five year old on the Adderall XR 10 mg. It seems to work most days bet he can be VERY whiny .
This is only his second week but the first day he had very BAD mood swings which have dissipated for the most part. Good luck

Hi guys, My 7 yr old son was on Adderall XL 1 1/2 yrs ago. He is mostly inattentive and impulsive. It worked GREAT for this. But he metabilzed it quickly so the dose had to be increased frequently. He began having a lot of side effects that I wasn't comfortable with so we switched him to another stim. All kids are different and react differently to these meds. It is all trial and error. What works for one may not work for another etc, etc... Good luck, Sue

My 10 year old son started 10mgs 4 weeks ago - we increased it to 15mgs - He is very focused - a bit more sensitive- he has had tics in the past so we are taking it slowly.
