Hi everybody. I used to be Momrat on the other site. How long have you been on the current meds you are using. My 11 yo d has been on AdderallXR for about 2 years, she can't tolerate the Ritalin based meds because of the side effects. She has been on about 7 different ones, they work for about 6 months and then it's like she builds up a tolerance against them, it's llike she's not taking anything and we have to change again. This has been working pretty well but she still has days that I think man maybe we better try somehting else. I know there are new meds out there but her Dr. is real reluctant to change unless she is really having trouble.

DS was on 5 mgs ritalin am & pm for two and a half years. We just bumped him up to 20 mgs Metadate CD. I have noticed there are days when it seems to wear off much more quickly than others. I started to keep on eye on what he was eating in the morning - and did notice for DS that if he ate more in the morning - his day was much better. DS has a really high metabolism so I think in our case - he needs that full stomach to slow it down a little.

My son has been on about nine different meds. Right now he's on Ritalin LA, Focalin, Clonidine, and Risperdal. My son also can only be on a certain combination for a short period, then seems to build up an immunity to them and we start all over. Concerta, although a Ritalin base, did absolutely nothing for him. He was one wild little boy!

My dd12 has been on Strattera 40mg for about 9 months. Before that she was on Concerta 72 mg for about a year, before that Ritalin. Strattera is working fine, we switched her because she wasn't eating or sleeping well on Concerta.

Brooke has been on many different meds over the past 3 years. Started a four with liquid Ritalin, and has done at various time in various configurations, adderall. adderal xr, tenex, clonidine, gaunfacine, concerta, dextrostat and has been on Strattera for a little over a week now. She too seems to build up and "immunity." Some of the meds never really worked in the first place. I am glad she seems to having a good experience with Strattera, I really wanted her off of those stims.

DS was dx in Jan.- so he has been on Meds. for 10months now. They seem to be wearing off or He is bulding up an immunity to them. He is on the highest dose he can take of his mornign Meds. (MetadateCD). Have a peaceful day, Christina
