Honey is on 5 mg of Adderall XR. I love the adderall, we have had great results. The problem is that on weekdays and weekends I gove it to him at about 11 AM and it carries him throught the evening. But on Wednesdays and Fridays he has school so I have to give it to him by 6 AM. By the time he gets home from school at about 4 PM is is already starting to wear off. This makes the rest of the night really hard. He is big time hyper and impulsive. Is there any way to get past this? Also, I do not want the school giving it to him b/c they will not put it in applesause, he has to take it whole there. Any suggestions??? Becky

You might ask your doc about using normal Adderall or some short-acting stimulant right after school.

 My kids take concerta at 6:15 and by 4 p.m. it's worn off. So they take 5 mg. Focalin to get them thru the rest of the evening.

Brooke was doing Concerta and taking 5 mgs of Ritalin at 4pm to take the edge off and get her through her homework. Now she is on Strattera and we are seeing good results so far  |

At the last visit the doc said if we wanted to we could switch to a differnt med and see if we get an even better result, but I am not going to b/c adderall is working so well for him. We can't do strattera b/c Honey is too little to swallow a whole pill. He has a terrible gag reflex.  |

Ritalin is very small, maybe you can try that?
