Hello - If you remember me from the old site, my son was medicated for 4 years on various meds. Last year in forth grade we had one teacher who after never being satified with my sons behavior caused us to up his concerta to 54 mgs. We then became aware of the tics that he had been having - but at 54mgs were off the chart - A doc at the end of the school year diagnosed him with medicated induced touretts syndrom.
Well we took him off everything in June. since June he has gained 27lbs and went from a 12 slim pants to a 16 reg.
He started the first 7 weeks this year without meds, we continue to see a theripist now bi-weekly(this just changed from weekly). He did great as far as marks, but needed alot of re-direction.
We started him 1 month ago on 10mgs of Adderal XR - he was more focused but has a serious leg (right) twitch, and some minor tics - not noticible if you did not know his history.
He is now on 15mgs of Adderall XR - he is very focused, patient and happy - the learning support teacher said the change is "remarkable" the Principal said he had a "breakthrough conversation" with my son and the theripist said he is "perfectly focused".
I am soooo counting my blessings - there is only 1 teacher who we only hear "negatives" from - she is not following the iep. whenever I need to ask her a question, she believes that because she told my son once already that he should be able to tell me. I'm afraid to ask because its becomming a bad reflection on my son.
I am not increasing the meds any more for 1 teacher! I am considering after this 1st tirmester is over switching him to a teacher who is more willing to work with us.
Does anyone know what 15mgs of adderall XR is equal too in regular adderall?
