My son was on 54mg. concerta for almost 3 years worked great. Then he startes heving some problems in school. Not finishing work. not turning in work, and having problems staying focused. The teachers said his behavior was still pretty good. The doc upt his concerta to 72mg. Now his behavior is getting bad and he still doesn't finish his work. I've seen were some people say the dose was to high. How can you tell when the dose is to high? Could that be the problem in my sons case.

Hi Denise ... My 15 year old son was put on a dosage of Concerta for a short while which was too high for him and it caused him to become very quiet and subdued. His friends kept asking him what had happened to him because he was soooo quiet!! However, possibly a too-high dosage can have different effects on different people.
This is a shame that concerta doesn't seem to be having the same effect for focus etc. after the three years your son has been on it.
How old is your son?

Denise, When my 7 yr old was on too high of a dose of Concerta he became more fatigued as in not participating in anything. At this time he is on 72 mg. Last spring he started slipping back and acting impulsive and more inattentive. We added an antidepressant Wellbutrin. It works to "boost" the Concerta and it is a WONDERFUL combo for my son. Look further down the listing and you will see a posting I did about talking to a med reseacher. This may well also help your son. Good luck, Sue

When Li'l Sprout's dose was too high he became a bundle of anxiety. Very unhappy little fellow. Took lexapro and months to even things out again. It's not enough to just get the chemistry rebalanced. You have to rebuild the esteem and confidence too.
Good luck. Let us know how things are going

Thanks everybody for ur replies. My ds goes back to the doc on the 21st. I'm gona ask him about maybe giving something with the concerta to give it a boost or maybe trying to go down to 63mg. I just hate having to do this whole med combo thing again. We finally just got my dd meds regulated now I have to do it with my ds.
