Ok I know its an old wise tale . . . but my son has been having just a little trouble getting to sleep . . so I tried warm milk Well in the last two night giving it to him, he was asleep the first night in 5mins and the second night in 10mins. I am not kidding. His bed in the morning is a mess usually, everything is all over the place. Well today his sheet was perfectly in place, he obviously sleep sound. I did a web search and found out: Heating milk releases Tryptophan and essential amino acid. The unusual indole side chain of tryptophan is also the nucleus of the important neurotransmitter serotonin. Tryptophan is the only substance that can be converted into serotonin. Tryptophan plays an instrumental role in balancing mood and sleep patterns. It was originaly developed to treat depression in humans, Prozaz, Zoloft and Praxit are now being prescribed for a variety of disorders, anxiety, OCD, headaches, sleep disturbances. Tryptophan is found in turkey meat, hence after thanksgiving dinner everyone needs a nap! My son loves it and hey it has no side effects

Mom says that adding vanilla and I think honey is supposed to make it work even better.
However, I detest warm milk, but will drink a gallon of cold milk in 2 days.
