Just wondering if anyone gives/takes concerta before breakfast. Mornings are a terrible distraction for our DS6. We give it after breakfast so that school sees the benefits. Just worried about him getting sick without food etc. Thanks, Miles

Hi Miles !! The good news is that concerta can be taken either with OR without food .... and (I understand) makes no difference in its effectiveness either way! However, the problem I find is that once Concerta "kicks in" then my son loses all interest in breakfast .... so I find it is better to give him breakfast before (or during the first 10 minutes after taking his pill) ... otherwise (and Yes this DOES happen quite often!) he goes to school breakfast-less .... which in fact doesn't seem to make any difference to him at all!

My kids eat breakfast at school, so I give them thier concerta right after I roll them out of bed. That way it will have kicked in by the time they get on the bus. Niether one of my kids have a problem with thier appetite tho. So they always eat breakfest.

I give it as soon has he gets up, it takes time to kick in and his teachers told me he was agitated early in the morning it doesnt make a difference on what he eats for breakfast, he eats about 45 minutes later. If he didnt eat I would wait till after because we do have that problem he is very thin.

Katie wouldn't eat if I didn't feed her before giving her her meds. I do the same thing even though she's on Strattera now. She functions better if we have a set routine, and mornings are interesting enough at my house without changing routines.

DS takes his Concerta as soon as he gets up otherwise it is forgotten. He has no problem eating. That is the one thing I have loved about Concerta and don't want to have to change. He eats me out of house and home, usually 24-7. Every once in a while he won't eat lunch but makes up for it at dinner.
