Honey started Adderall XR about three weeks ago. Initially I saw a decrease in his appetite. Now it is back and he is eating more that ever!! For now I think it is good because he is already skin and bones as we enter cold and flu season (firm believer that extra "chub" is good for kids in cold and flue season.) But I am wondering if he will eventually put on too much weight, or too fast. Any thoughts on this? Also, I am worried due to weight issues on my hubby's side and w/ my little girl...Thanks...Becky

[glow=red,2,300]How much underweight is Honey? If Honey is say, 7 years old and 35 pounds than going up 5-10 pounds will help. My nephew who is 13 finally weights near 50 pounds after starting Adderall XR. If weight is a concern than talk to the doc and watch the weight gain. If gaining 10 pounds in one month that is a bit much according to my kids pedi when Kat gained that much in less than a month. I guess maybe after a little while longer on the meds if the weight gain don't slow down than I would become concerned.[/glow]
I know I went on and on but hopefully I helped.

It is not so much that he is underweight, but that his body fat is only at like a 8%. He is only 4 yrs old and has a very odd shape for a little boy. He is extememly muscular and has a body of an older boy, like in their late teens. I am just going to see how it goes. Some extra fat is not going to kill him, he probably needs it. Thanks....Becky

He's eating MORE on Adderall XR? Sheesh, I lost an insane amount of weight on it (that I'm still trying to gain back as muscle instead of fat).
If you think he's gaining too much, talk to the doctor. Ask what the most is that he should be gaining in a month. If you think he needs more fat, ask the doctor what kind of diet he should be eating or ask about a nutritionist.
