I am a WM age 42, only recently diagnosed ADD --- my horror stories are many, my life is a disaster, and I had high hopes for Strattera
It has taken away my appetite (not necessarily a bad thing), eliminated sleep, and rendered me completely impotent.
Is this normal?

appetite and sleep are normal side effects, as for your other problem sorry I do not know for sure...
SD8 is a very skinny girl already, so the appetite was a big problem for her... The dr added remeron to her medications and it did help with the appetite, and even the sleeping patterns... I would suggest talking to your dr to try to get a medication to counter the side effects... Good luck in finding the right combination for you!!

The odd thing is, I read in another forum that Strattera had INCREASED a user's sexual function ... I am really concerned about this particular problem.
From what I know about how Strattera works, I guess there are a number of meds that would help with sleep that wouldn't conflict with Strattera's effectiveness. Can't hurt to ask my doctor ...

Hi Douglas:
From what I hear about strattera, it can cause sexual side effects such as impotense and lack of sexual desire. If you are concerned about this, I suggest you speak to your dr. Not all meds have the same side effects on everyone.

Hello Douglas,
I think you may be best served by speaking with your doctor on the affects. My husband is ADD and our doctor put him on Zoloft 200mg. He is doing very well on zoloft, it keeps him very focused etc. There has been a "side affect" of the sexual nature but we consider it a good one. His longevity has increased. Perhaps strattera is not for you. Please, call your doctor and discuss this with him/her.

My husband was recently dx'd and goes to the doctor (finally!) on Friday. Thanks for the link re: Strattera for Adults. It's working for my daughter but it may not be the best for my husband.

;D Hi..my first posting...I am 40...just diagnosed (although i self diagnosed years ago...) I have been on Celexa and then Lexapro for the last 2+ years for severe PMS...it did not address what i now know are the impulsive traits of my adhd. I had many symtoms diminish...but not the low frustration levels, lack of patience, and impulsive words during temper tantrums. I just started Strattera last week. Although the jury is still out...i feel less agitated with my kids and my temper has improved. I do feel a bit "jittery" at first in the morning...and tired around 4pm. I'm hoping to work out the dosage. But as of now, i seem to be having better results than with just Lexapro. mary
