Gotta say yes and no...
Yes, because I don't have to wake my son up quite as early, which is always a nightmare. I have to work through the whole holiday time (Christmas and New Year's Day off only). My son will go to camp and we can leave a little tiny bit later in the morning.
No, because he behaves better in school than he does when he's home. He is in a special needs class with 9 other ADHD'ers, in a program with very structured positive reinforcement for good behavior. That, combined with the peer pressure to get a good behavior grade on a daily basis is why he's better there.

I'll vote for yes and no, too. Yes because she won't be running around loose in the mornings after I leave for work. No because she has way too much time on her hands and spends it Velcroed to my butt and it drives me crazy. Monday she goes to my mom's to drive her crazy till Christmas. Gotta share the fun!

I guess I will go with the yes vote.
I'm glad she is out because we won't have to spend every evening redoing her schoolwork. Although, I do intend to work on her word wall words, reading and math.
I am also glad she is out of school, because the week after Christmas, my wife and I are going on a cruise for our tenth anniversary (Dec 31st). Top of the line cabin and everything (I figured Michelle deserved it for putting up with me for all this time.)
Grandma is watching her while we are gone. This is our first ever vacation without Brooke. YIPPEEEE

YES YES YES!!!!!! Yesterday was the last, actually it was only a little party and report-card´s at morning. My son was in a play that is traditional in here: it´s about 3 wise men, Herodes and some solider´s, they sing and celebrate the birht of Jesus. HE WAS GREAT!!! Among 5 other´s, he was the one who´s voice we heard, in a good way ;D No school until the 7ht of Jan. I have still 2 days before christmas Marja

It's a huge relief. I have one in high school, one in middle school, one in elementary school, and one that's pre-school. I think I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off for quite a while now. Hopefully now that things will be slower for a couple weeks, I'll remember where I left my brain. With my luck, it's with my gorgeous new wrist watch -- the one the baby flushed down the toilet.

Relief ro me, sad for Honey. He has been out since last Wednesday b/c of the pink eye thing, and and then both of my kids got really sick. Not the flu, just bad upper respitory infections and that kind of garbage. He missed the party at school and feels bad he didn't get to give his teacher or bus driver the cards he made them. He also says he misses "lovely Lauren" the little girl he loves to play with. DD2 thinks it is great b/c she has a playmate until January 7th. At least we get to sleep in....Becky

Well I can now finally join the thread and say k- yipee - as today is the last day of school until the 5th! Thank goodness, though, that he had school through today or I would have gone absolutely mad trying to get the house ready for Christmas!!! (It was bad enough with my DD4 who WAS out of school this week)! Wow - Santa is actually coming tomorrow night? Well, now that DS is finally home and I am hearing screaming because he can't find his memory card for his gamecube I am starting to wish that he could be in school a little longer . . . .

Last day for us was Friday. I did feel relieved Fri. and Sat. We had a couple of nice calm no-pressure days. Everyone was happy. Then, Sunday, boredom set in. (I have an only child). Yesterday, we were ALL ready for school to be back in session!
I have enjoyed the calmness, no arguing, no backtalk, etc. that NOT being in school brings. I've realized that school must be really stressful for my daughter. The difference in her these last few days has been amazing. (aside from the cranky stuff that boredom brings)

Well we've been doing a med break this holiday season. Li'l Sprout finally did us in. He's just too much firecracker when he's not on meds. Especially when you add in the ODD. A med break has done Bean Sprout wonders. Or maybe it's a school break! But he had a big downer evening tonight. Lucky for once we could help him shake it.
But I sure don't miss the homework. Bean Sprout's history teacher suggested the students go ahead and get cracking on the constitutional amendments. Bean Sprout and I both gave that idea the big raspberry it deserves. Dangit. This is vacation time and school is on hold until further notice.
