We are considering moving to Bend, but my son is in a great school where we live. That would be the hardest to give up. My son is adhd/anxiety and is doing well. Part of that is because he's in a great school.

I don't have a map near me right now but I don't think you would be too far away from me if you move to Bend. I'm in Medford, Oregon. My boys are in a great school here.
Oregon has no sales tax! Great weather, no snow where I'm at. Not sure about Bend though. Wouldn't it be fun to get together!

Oregon has no sales tax---how can that be We have a 6% sales tax and we have the 2nd highest state tax on tobacco---trust me I hear it everyday when I sell cigs to customers(thank god I don't smoke--unfortunatly DH does) and our state still wants to raise the state tax as well!! I want to come and live in your state ;D I live in Michigan

Nope, no sales tax. If you purchase something like a new car you save some big bucks! I was also amazed at how little you pay to license and register the car. Love it.
Something else very strange, it's against the law to pump your own gas here. You get spoiled real fast. Service, can you imagine? They even wash your car windows!

IN NJ, IT"S ILLEGAL TO PUMP YOU ROWN GAS TOO. AND THE PRICE IS CHEAPER THAN PA AND DE I think Mike said something about the insurance for self service places.....I will never pump my own gas ;DThat is my mission in life, see if I can make it through w/ou tdoing it. 30 yrs down so far ;D Everything else is taxed out the wazoo, we go to Delaware for smokes and stuff like that....no tax and the state tax on smokes makes theirs half the price of Jersey's. AND they are going to raise it again

Oh Wow!! Illegal to pump your own gas ... (or fill your car with petrol as we would say!) ;D... I never ever heard of this! ... I have not had anybody 'pump gas' on my behalf for about 20 years! ... In fact these days we don't even have to see a human being at all at a petrol station.... we put the credit card in AT the pump and do the whole thing ourselves! ... Ohhhh !! But I would quite LIKE someone to do it FOR me!!

I have never had someone pump gas for me (unless it's DH), but I do love the pay at the pump service. Now I don't have to drag in all the kids just to pay for gas. The downside of it--- they rarely have paper to print the receipts on. UGH!
