Our school ( a Lutheran school) has the teachers conduct home visits before the school year starts. Over the summer I created a folder for my Daughter's teacher. I included a detailed parent assessment, ALL the data I could find pertaining to my child's ADD & LD (including helpful classroom tips), and some sample schoolwork from last year.
Her teacher was impressed. She said she wishes ALL parents would do that, regardless of whether or not their child has ADD or an LD or whatever. And I feel that her teacher will at least start the year knowing what to expect instead of spending the first few weeks calling or sending notes home about every little thing! Also, I wanted the teacher to see my daughter as a PERSON, instead of as a PROBLEM!
Just an idea I wanted to share in case anyone else was interested!
