We have just taken DD to her first psychologist appt. and they had mentioned that this program could along with whatever furthur treatment may be indicated on her upcoming 5 hr. evaluation. Our insurance will pay for psychiatry/psychology appts. and for medical treatment. It will not pay for the Mindworks program which is $3600 for 45 min. session twice a week for 4 mos. This program supposedly gets to the root of the problems behind conditions such as APD or ADHD and trains the child to learn differently. I don't fully understand it so here's the link: www.mindworkslearning.comI am skeptical, given the cost of this program. It seems that if this program works this well, it would be more well-known. If you have heard of it or have tried it , please let me know what you think. Thank you in advance.

Hi Erin, I can say that I have heard of it, but not because anyone I know has used it.
From reading on the site, it looks to be a good place to take a child to figure their learning style, but your insurance is probably looking at it like a extra help, no need for us to cover it type of thing.
I read though a few things a while back and I will go see if I can find them for you. I know that one was a thing on PBS Misunderstood Minds. I think that I got the info here. If I did I'll get that thread for you. It is very informative.
Off to look. hope this helps a little Kaiti

Hi Kaiti, Any info. you can share on Misunderstood Minds would be great. I was told that the reason insurance does not cover Mindworks is because they feel it to be educational, not a therapeutic treatment, therefore the schools should be covering it. I have met a couple of people who have also heard of it, but none who have tried it. From what I do understand, they take their findings from an all-day evaluation and find out what the problems are, ie.-APD is a sequencing problem. Then they develop an individualized program to retrain the brain's problem areas of processing. They claim a 90% success rate, based off of the goals listed on their site. I have an open mind, but $3600 is an expensive gamble. Thank you in advance for any info. you have.
