:-XSkay, you are an angel That was wonderful what you and your friends did. From what I have been reading in the paper, everything that everyone has done is sincerely appreciated.

I went over there again yesterday, to another city this time. I only helped out at a church, but they seemed very appreciative. I tried taking a couple pictures on the way out--in a van that was moving. Didn't turn out very well. I probably won't be able to go back over there anymore; I can't neglect my family forever. ;D

I have a church member (I don't know him personally) who is from Slidell MS. His dad still lives there. The man was talking to the pastor about how much cleanup was needed. A group of men from my church are going to Slidell this weekend to do some cleanup. I wish I could go but I have too much to do this weekend I've givin clothes to the fire dept and diapers and feminine products to the church. I wish I could do more.

Do you know .. I am in awe!! ... I honestly am !! ... I am reading this thread and I am HONESTLY thinking that I would NOT see (and have NEVER seen!) such unselfish pure 'hands on' HELP in my own country!! YES we as a country we supposedly give more to charity 'monetary' wise than almost any country in the world but we are just NOT "hands on" as a nation ... (we it appears prefer to throw a few coins in a can!) but you guys ... well you just ARE !! ... I think this is just FANTASTIC ... and worth so much more than a few coins thrown into a can !! ... OK to be fair there is not much more we can GIVE when the problem is so far away from us ... BUT when the problems have been closer to home we (as a nation) still honestly do not GIVE in the way I see you giving ... !! In my own opinion my own country could learn A LOT from the way you (and Americans as a whole) have "mucked in" and helped out here!!

Sweety, that's great that you have given what you could. That's what counts!! Over in MS, I've seen a lot of church groups helping out. That's great!
Thanks, Anne, from all of US. I'm not sure that I'd ever seen as much "hands on" as I have with these hurricanes, especially Katrina.
