Cheryl, Can you come work at Walmart up here ;D Some of those chicks at teh check out need an attitude adjustment. And if they do, I make sure to look at them after I get my reciept and tell them to HAVE A GREAT DAY ;Dwith a big ole grin, usually I'll add a smart comment like OH IT"S ALMOST BREAK TIME FOR YA ;D ;D Then they can't roll their eyes at me, well, they can, but usually I get a forced fake smile :Dwell, if they were polite to begin with I wouldn't have to be a pain. But the old guy that you pass on the way out.....I'll tell him to have a good day. and I like his Tag line. YOU HAVE A BETTER ONE :DI love that guy he's so funny

yep, in my opinion we need more Cheryl's in this world! Just wait until I'm fullly grey headed before you call me m'am. ;D ;DIt's very rare now to have a cashier or store clerk go out of their way to be friendly and helpful....most times they act as if you are bothering them. "Sorry for making you do your job!" is what I have to suppress myself from saying sometimes.

Christy I know what you mean and I tend to be a little outspoken when we get a rude cashier~~~the family gets mad at me but heck that is why they are there to be friendly and go out of their way to make MY shopping experience nice. Last week Riley and I stopped at a gas station and while I was paying the cashier actually grabbed the money out of my hand I said excuse me I was going to look for the change but I guess not~~~~I won't be back here again and she was looking at me like I was stupid~~~Riley is slowly going to the car while I am there having a fit.

I try to always be nice ot the cashiers and stuff because I know they have to put up with so much sometimes. Although if another customer is being rude....like the one that is impatient behind me, I try to dig out exact change and tell the cashier.....I think I have it, hold on, I'll check. ;D ;DDon't tick me off and get in line behind me.....I'll make you late Then I make small talk about not having to get change for little while longer. WHO WANTS TO GO TO WALMART WITH ME ;D ;D

I'm the same way...I try to maintain politness and can put up with somethings, but only so much...and when you cross the line I'll let you know it one way or another.

Kaiti, you and me in P ville will be viscious. I got dibs on the punch lines in the fitting rooms!
Michael wants to take the cashier's vest and stand behind one of the empty registers, just to drive the other customers nuts! Not a day goes by that one of the kids doesn't ask "can we go terrorize walmart?"
Cheryl, I know what you mean about trying not to be nasty to rude customers! We had our share of the UPPER class richies in our town. Some were such snobs. We did complimentary gift wrapping. I actually had one lady who NEVER was pleased with my first attempt and would hold the line up requesting me to " Do it over again, and do it right this time" GRRR! She was a very long drawn out "MAAAAAAAAM"
On the other hand, one customer was a part owner of NFL team franchise. Spend over $1000 per trip to the toy store. That one was so down to earth and polite and friendly! Only reason I found out about the ownership... the credit card had the team logo on it, and it was a favorite team of mine but not a local team. I smiled and said, "GREAT TEAM!" and got a bashful, "Thanks, we are proud of them." I still didn't catch on, but later my manager compimented me for "sweet talking" Joe Owner.
The other thing I used to do that I felt connected me with the customer, I would look for something simple, a necklace or blouse, pair of shoes, handbag, t-shirt, and NOTICE it... "oh, I love that bracelet! Where did you find it?" or "I need that shirt for my son... it is so perfect for him!"
Then the customers don't feel like they hit the bored teenager chewing gum and chatting on the phone and being inconvenienced by you.
Oh, and my kids! They are getting really good at making people be nice too! The other day, a car parked in the handicap spot "for just a quick minute" and didn't have HP plates. One of the kids turned to me and said "I guess they have an MORAL handicap" and said it loud enough to be heard! YOU GO GUYS! That one really ticks us off!

Saturday, there was a girl with her arm in a cast walking in the middle of the aisle swinging around and being obnoxious. One of my DS's says loudly, "I wonder if she got her arm broken by waving it in front of another shopper, cuz I am tempted to break her good one if she flaps it in front of me again!" ;D
