Looking at it from the hunter and gatherer point of view, thank you Karen for the lovely analogy, I'll be butchering this one too ;D
Men being the hunters kill things, it's dead, end of story.
Women as gatherer's have to pry through the bushed to get to the berries....then make the juice ;D
Hense how canning(tupperware) parties started ;D ;D ;D ;D

So what you are saying, is that if men took the time to gather more info in a conversation, especially with a woman, that a "relationship" would be more satisfying? I'll have to give that some more thought. Kaiti, along your analogy, don't forget women tended to gather the kids too, but they don't make good juice or fit into tuperware containers very well. ;D ;D ;D Tuperware ;D ;D ;D crack me up ;D ;D ;D Miles

Guilty as charged. But I went home asking a whole lot more questions, but usually what happens is that I end up thinking of a quesiton, and wait to ask, but by the time I do get to, the question is not relevant anymore. Sooo, the moral of the story, is that it is better to listen than to speak. Miles

I'm waiting to hear how the date went. lol Oops!! Sorry Christy !! ... I was having such a giggle reading through this thread which has evolved into an hysterical male -vs- female " Discussion" that I nearly forgot to report on the date!! ;D ;D Well in fact ... wait for it .... the date DIDN'T HAPPEN !! ... and WHY didn't it happen? .. because BOTH of them thought the OTHER was meant to call to make the last minute meeting arrangements ... and so NEITHER of them did until some time later when it was toooooo late to go on a date!! .... Now WHAT is it they say about add/adhd and ORGANISATION? Could it be that she TOO is add/adhd? ;D ;D Anyway ... all is NOT lost and the DATE is being re-arranged!! ... Next time I am going to make sure that HE calls whether he thinks he is meant to or NOT !! ;D

I think next time I have to get "more involved" (I said to dh last night "OMG THIS NEEDED FEMALE INTERVENTION!! ;D) ... I would make SURE he called ... regardless of whether he thought she was "meant" to call or NOT !! ...

What's really funny about all this is that there was this discussion about the way men and women communicate, and the date (the whole reason this started) didn't even happen because of a communication problem. ;D (done the " Don't ask" guy's way I might add! ) In the book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus the author discusses the differences in men and women's thinking about communication. He didn't exactly discuss the need to gather information, but I guess it could be inferred from the need to talk (or not to talk). For instance, when men have a problem they often feel the need to retreat into their "cave," while when women have a problem they have a need to talk. Neither is wrong--this is a NEED for both, and we can't change it. He said we should never offer a man unsolicited advice because he will think that we believe he is inadequate. On "Mars" men never give help unless it's asked for. ("If they need help they'll ask for it.") So I guess it's the same for gathering information. "If they want us to know, they'll tell us." In other words I guess it's up to the other person to communicate. Oh my, I sure have been getting long-winded lately, haven't I?
