I don't know why my DH is such a baby and a procrastenator about the doctor, but he is, and if I understand correctly I am not the only one with this problem. He is not listening to me so I told him I am posting this and he is forced to read all the replies or I will read them to him at a really awful time. Here is the problem. My DH is slightly overweight, but his weight fluctuates 10 lbs either way from day to day. I used to think it was a result of crash dieting for HS wrestling, but now I wonder. The next problem is that he is going potty at LEAST 10 time during his workday. He drinks like 7 or 8 glasses of water between his meals not to mention a 1/2 gallon of milk (at least) a day. (no wonder he has to go potty I guess ) Last is that he has to fall asleep and is very groggy right after he eats. Especially on nights like tonight when he had 2 Hostess cupcakes after supper. IMHO, he needs to have a diabetes screening done. He says I am a worry-wart. I know I can count on you ladies and gentelmen to give us some honest opinions here so give it to us..... ;D Becky

They all sound like classic symptoms. I too have been having quite a few of them lately. I had my MIL check mine with her glucometer this weekend. Two hours after eating it was 134. From what I understand anything over 120 is considered diabetic? Not quite sure on that. Guess I need to go in and have a test done after fasting Does he have any other symptoms? Like sores that don't heal quickly/properly? I know it sounds gross, but is his urine clear? I was also told that you can get dark spots that look like bruises that don't go away. I have one, but not so sure if that is a true sign. You also bruise really easily. I know I can't say much (cause I need to go in too), but I do think he should at least look into it. From what I understand, if it's found early enough, they can try to control it with diet. If you don't follow the diet then you can go on to use pills and eventually insulin shots. My mom wouldn't watch her diet and is now on insulin shots. Not a very great way to live. Jerry, please go in and get checked!

Aimee is right about the classic symptoms. The sores, however, are not early signs and would probably not show up at this point. C'mon Honeysdad, diabetes is best treated if caught early. If we are wrong, then at least you will know you have a clean bill of health.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! I knew I could count on you to help me out on this. I read all the responses to him this morning as he ate breakfast and he said that he better go b/c everyone sounds friendly now, but if he doesn't listened to 7 wifes and mothers he may never hear the end of it!! I also managed to throw in a little of that "do it for us" guilt, so he asked if I'd call the doctor for him and set up an appt. Thanks again, you guys are so great!! Becky

I am so glad to hear that he is going to the doc. Our DHs need to realize that we need them to stay healthy so we can keep them around for a looooooong time. The best way to do that is to take care of little things before they become big things.
