Hi What do your kids do over the summer? Alicia usually goes to field hockey camp and golf camp. This summer she will have private golf lessons, and we will probably take the usual family trip to England. Just wanted to know how you filled you time.

Well, since I won't be in charge of SACC anymore, I'll be able to get more canning done, so the kids help me with that, but since our land lord is selling the house, we are going to SERIOUSLY clean house.
We don't do summer camps-yet anyhow...... Kaiti

Cami will be going to two over-night camps and another week long mission trip. The mission trip as well as one of the camps is with the youth group at our church.... the other camp is thru the 4-H club at her school. One week this summer my sister will be coming with my two nieces from Myrtle Beach and staying with us, and another week will be our family vacation. The rest of the time Cami is out she will be going to either my mom's or my dad's.

Lets see, DD is going to girlscout camp and then to church camp. DS may go to football camp. Then the churches all have vacation bible schools. They go for a few hour each day for a week and have all kinds of activities to do. some are in the morning, some are in the evening. Each church has one and they try not to have them at the same time so most of the kids in town go from one to the other all summer long.(we have about 7 churches) Then the college has 1/2 day basketball camp for a week andthe varsity cheerleaders from the highschool have a 1/2 day cheer camp for a few days. Last year the school started a sports camp for 3rd grade thru 8th graders. They go each morning for one month and each week is a diffrent sport. (football, basketball, baseball/softball, and track) This sports camp and the vacation bible schools are free. The basketball camp and cheer camp are about $25 dollars and they get a t-shirt. DD will probably do all the camps, but DS will be 14 and is starting to feel a little old for some of them. The month long sport camp he will defidently do. I think they will keep very busy. Then we are going up to NY state to visit family and friends that we have not seen in 6 years. (since we moved to texas)

My kids are too young for camp, but I think I'd like to go!! I signed Honey up for summer school. It only goes for 2 hours a day for 2 weeks. His teachers really recommended it, and I think the routine is good for him. Plus he gets to see other kids from his class. Other than that we don't do too much, summer is DH's busy time at work so we really stay around home and go fishing and have camp fires. I take the kids to the lake to swim during the day. I don't really enjoy summer too mcuh b/c the sun really irritates me and DD. We are more nighttime people!!

mom2tj, My sister lives in Myrtle Beach and has for several years. She has been there, done it all, as have we because we go to visit at least once a year, usually twice. She is coming here because she grew up here and this is where her family is... in other words, she's coming to visit us and other "extended" family. I agree with you that it is an awesome place to vacation. Definitely plenty to do there! Funny thing about my sis and bil though..... neither of them care for the beach! Weird, I know! They just live there because that's where bil's business has him for now.

I'm hoping that this year we can get a family pool pass to the local pools. That would keep us busy during the day. We will be spending a lot of time outside as usual. One of my favorite things to do with the kids is to search for geodes. Any one else do this?
