Today I went to a mother-daughter dinner at a friend's house. She asked us to bring something special from our mother or grandmother. Well, the first thing I thought of was a little mustarditthat my grandmother had given me. I wrapped it up in tissue paper but not good enough. My DD3 bumped me and the box fell from my lap to the floor. The lid broke in 3 large pieces and 3 small pieces. I had gone against my better judgment to take this; I knew it was over 70 years old. I later found a note that my grandmother had given me. This littleithad been given to her parents as a wedding present in 1902; it's over 100 years old! (Between this, being extremely tired, and having a problem with a friend, I have not shed a tear today. )

It might not be as valuable, but for heirloom sake, I'd be glueing it. I have dishes from my grandmom that she bought from Acme or somewhere, it was a really popular pattern...Blue leaves with pink flowers. They are starting to show their age, so I hoping to find some more at yard sales, I absolutely love them, more than what we got for a wedding present.
Hope today is a better day Kaiti

skay, its just the lid you can glue it it still has the same meaning.... that is so cool to have something that was brought down like that I cant say that I have anything so old.... I would guess that it will not be brought out again the only thing I have from my grand ma is 2 quilts that she made herself, now they are on my boys beds and I tell them that there great-grandma is watching over them when they sleep....

Well, I did glue the 3 large pieces back together and the cracks aren't very noticeable. There were also 3 small pieces broken off the inside rim. I was able to glue one back on, not sure if I'll be able to get the other 2 on. I also have an old plate that my grandmother gave me, but I can't remember the story behind it. I doubt that it's as old as the mustard dish, but IT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
