All this talk about telling hubbies what to get makes me jealous! My dh is not my dd's dad, therefore he doesn't look at me as the mother of his children, and leaves everything up to Cami. When I think about it , it kind of makes me mad with him too, because I always do something nice for father's day. Hmmm, we need to talk....

This year is a bit different, I guess. My boys will make me breakfast in bed like they always do. But I asked if they could send care packages to the Marines in Iraq as a gift to me. My BIL said that there are guys in his unit who have not received a single letter or package from home yet. Everytime I reach for my Chapstick, I feel just a little spoiled when I think about our service men and women who need it more than I do. So, as a special gift, that is what I want. And hugs, too.

OK, I'm wondering if after reading my previous posts on this topic, if any of you got to my family somehow? If not, then I just need to keep my mouth shut in the future until after the fact! ;D Seems I'm going to have an enjoyable mother's day and weekend to look forward to afterall! DD is with her dad tonight and tomorrow but I'll get her back tomorrow night for mother's day. My stepmom is going out of town for business and won't be home any this weekend, so that frees me up one person. My mom is going to my brother's outside of Atlanta first thing Sunday morning, so that frees up my Sunday. Me and dh plan on spending tomorrow out on the boat soaking up some sun and enjoying the peace and quiet of the lake. I just got a new bathing suit I can show off! ;D. ...... We will have our mother's day festivities with my mom and that side of the family tomorrow night at my grandmother's........ Sunday can be church with dh and dd, then dh told me he plans to take me somewhere nice to eat! Sooooo, who got to them? hehe Anyway, hope EVERYONE has a great weekend and all you moms out there get the love and special treatment you deserve!

My gosh..I need to know how you did this Christy! My DH has been saying that it is Mother's day all week, but I will be VERY suprised if he actually remembers to buy a card. His own mother doesn't think it is a big deal so he really doesn't get it. Then if I let him know that my feelings are a little hurt that he didn't at least get me a card he tries to make up for it all day, which only makes it worse. I guess it makes it worse b/c he will end up saying what a bad hubby he is and then I will tell him how great he is and then I'll get annoyed. My own mother has to be in Boston so I won't see her and my MIL is comming next weekend so we'll get together then. Mother's day is sort of like Valentine's day to me. I try to ignore them both. DH and I were just brought up too different that way. BUT to everyone else--Happy mother's day!! Becky

My Mother's Day present will be a battery charger that can work on 220 or 110 voltage. Not very sentimental, but it was what I wanted. And what mama wants...
I'm like Tridlette, and I'll also get breakfast in bed - hopefully not cream of wheat with chocolate chips like I got many years ago.
This is a cool idea; we did it at our middle school this year, and I thought I'd pass it along. We bought those plain photo frame cards at Wal-Mart, and a bunch of frames at the Dollar Store. Then we took pictures of the kids at school. We charged $2 for the card and $4 for the frame, put the kids' pictures inside for them to give to their mother. We made a bit of money, but provided a great service to the kids, and a great gift their mother will love. I actually took the pictures, and I made SURE that the kids looked as good as they could.
Happy Mothers' Day!

I don't know how my DD's teacher came up with them, but she had Mother's Day cards for all the kids. They got to pick out which card they wanted to give their mom. My DD picked out one that said "Happy Mother's Day from I didn't do it". It was adorable. They also made magnetic flowers out of popsicle sticks and construction paper. ;D

Amiee..Awesome flowers!!
I got a card last year from Avery's daycare that said Luv U Lots, and it had a huge kiss mark on it. They put bright red lipstick on all the kids and had them kiss the paper. Then they turned them into magents for the fridge. It really was cute and mine is still up there.
Now that I think about it, I probably will get "flowers"...Everyday Honey comes in the house with about 30 dandyloins for me and is so proud! It really is cute! (Just a little hard on the allergies, but that's OK, he's worth it)

I have to tell you about the most precious Mother's Day gift my ds8 gave me this week. He picked out a little red hair comb for good behavior in school. On top of the comb are a little violin, an umbrella and an angel. He wrapped it up and proudly gave it to me. He opened it for me and explained, "the violin is because you sing to me, the umbrella is because you protect me from the rain and the angel is because you are my angel." OMG, the tears welled up in my eyes, it was so sensitive and sweet . I showered him with hugs and kisses and thanked him for the most wonderful gift I ever got! Aimee, along those lines, let me just say that I think the heartfelt letter you are writing to your mom will mean more to her than any store-bought gift. Happy Mommy's Day to all you super Moms!!!!!!!

Amsmom, How beautiful! It is so wonderful when they come up with things on their own. We don't have to have anything that comes from a store. The love that little ones can show us in the simple things are wonderful!
Again, Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mother's, grandmother's, and dad's who take on the mother role! I hope you all have a wonderful day.
