I just got my official acceptance letter to start school again in the fall. I am so excited!
The only drawback is since we moved and I switched majors last semester, I am a Freshmen....again. I must be the oldest Freshmen on the face of the Earth, or at least I have the most credits of all of them.
Four short years from now I will be done! There goes my plans of getting a "real" job before I turn 30. Oh well, it's a start! ;D

Congratulations. I would like to go back to school someday. I work at a college and could take class for free but I dont have the time. Kids really keep me jumping. I think you are very brave to go back to school. Do you get a back to school treat? I give my kids something special when they go back to school.

Congratulations Becky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think you'd be the oldest freshman though, my mom finally finished college after about 12 yrs of part timing it. Now she's a teacher. 7th and 8th Grade science. (But becareful....she had all of her science credits discredited and couldn't make them go towards her degree) ( (Well, she did start in 1970 at a different college, but had to come home to take care of her mom)
But HOORAY FOR HONEY'SMOM!!!!!! LYL KAITI

I started out as a Elementary Ed major 1 1/2 years ago. I made it all the way to a Sophomore, then we moved. I had to transfer schools and take a year off to be on the waiting list. I have changed my mind about teaching, I am not sure I have the patience for it. Now I am in the Nursing program, but it is in a new school and they won't accept some of my credits from the other school so I am back to a Freshmen.
That is one thing that really gets me. Wisconsin has this big University system. We don't have any State colleges. Only UW's and private schools, and all the UW schools have the same Board of Regents, but you cannot transfer easily between them. I have to retake one Biology class and 2 Math classes that are the same. This happens to lots of people I know. (they use different books so it doesn't count)
DH is teasing that at this rate I am going to be a student forever, but I think he is just itching for a second income. I can't say I blame him. By the time I am done I will have been out of work for a total of 7 years in a row. I suppose it is hard being the only one who brings home a paycheck. I know I do alot also, but a little pay would be nice... ;D

As soon as hubby gets through going to college, I plan on applying myself. I have been considering it now for quite awhile and you have just inspired me.

You are an inspiration! And so brave. I have been wanting to go back for years now....boss has even offered to pay for it. But I'm such a chicken. I'm a single mom with NO help from dad and Jarrett takes so much of my attention and energy. I would have to take night and weekend courses. I'm very one-track minded, and once I get into something, I can't just set it aside. I'm afraid Jarrett would feel neglected. Oh well, maybe soon I'll meet Prince Charming and then I could quit work and go back to school. Any princes out there? Prince, prince, where are you prince? Darn, all I get are frogs!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;DCONGRATULATIONS ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Jdmom, good luck finding Prince Charming! My sister has been waiting for 6 years and finally applied to school also. I wish she would come to the same school as me since she is going for the same thing, but she refuses to move. It is hard when you have kids, but it means more to you so you find they time for it. Coffee becomes a very good friend!! Marja, There are 2 programs you can take in the US. One is for 2 years and one is for 4. From what I understand the 2 year program is for Nursing only, but the 4 year program gives more of a chance for supervisory jobs. Jorgy probably knows that better than I do. I would have probably taken the 2 yr program, but the waiting list is so long I won't even get in for 2 more years so I might as well go for 4.

Congratulations! You'd make a wonder ful nurse or teacher, whichever. You're able to empathize with people, and that kind of deep caring is hard to come by.
Hope you don't have to retake too many classes, but if you do, just try to think of them as "Easy A's" since it's your second time through.
