Everywhere I turn this is such a [glow=red,2,300]HOT[/glow] topic (the janet jackson breast thing), and I just dont get it .... The main debate I have seen (internet and t.v.) is that football is supposed to be "family entertainment"... I have lots of problems with that blanket statement... 1. Football is a very violent sport (I am a HUGE fan btw), most parents who have a problem with their kids watching violence on t.v. have a problem with nudity... IF that is true their kids wouldnt of been watching the game due to violence... 2. Had my kids been watching the halftime (we are on the east coast, so kids were getting ready for bed by halftime), I would of shut the t.v. off at the suggestive dancing which was way before the breast incident that has people up in arms... In summary I dont get the hub-bub over the "incident", besides the more attention it gets the better for the 2 performers... In effect the media is makeing it more known then cbs did when it happened, and they switched to a commercial...

Cat My thought´s exactly, although some might think I should have no opinion of U.S. national game ;D I like to watch it when possible, but for obvious reasons, I am no fan, nothing against it eather. It might been intentional, or not, but that star-like thing was there very conviniently As you said, those two got it all, after this debate, they have more publicity than they would get dancing and singing for a long time one succesfull publisity-move they did! Since I have no real knowlidge of the game, I only see it as very rough game with big guys running to each other Sorry, no offend! Marja

I don't see the big deal either. My kids didn't catch the breast and even if they did it would not have been the end of the world. I have a firm standing on breasts that if you have seen one, you have seen them all. It is like a sweatshirt, they come in different sizes and colors, but in the end, it just keeps you warm.
I think it was a stupid thing to do and I don't understand why, but to each his own...

What I read was that he was only supposed to pull off the top layer - he wasn't supposed to get the red lace too. Someone said something about maybe he isn't used to grabbing real ones...

I loved the football game itself. Probably the best I've ever watched. But all the other stuff, especially the halftime show was offensive to me. It was sex, sex, and more sex. Half of the commercials were for penile dysfunction products. I was really turned off by all of that and I am amazed that the networks ALLOWED all of that, knowing how many kids were watching that night. It's a matter of decency and that's exactly why there is currently a federal investigation looking into that night. Watching Janet Jackson sing and dance made me sick. The ripping off her bra thing was the icing on the cake. That's entertainment?

I didn't watch a minute of broadcast tv all weekend so I got nuthin to say about what specifically what happened on Sunday Night. I might feel different if my sprouts had been watching it. But I'd have been sitting with them if that gave a rat's behind about who won the super bowl
But in general the thing that really worries me about entertainment media is the way that sex and violence are usually together. They ought not have a thing to do with each other but people including young children see the two acted out like they're inseperable on the big screen and the little screen and even to some extent in some videogames.
Sounds to me like at least part of the halftime show on Sunday night was more of the same little sado sex show that always seems to be either acted out or suggested in the media. That bothers me a whole lot more than somebody's boob being exposed accidentally or on purpose during a football game. Most of us know what one looks like I think. Shouldn't be too shocking. Unless the jewelry comes as a surprise.

I had a meeting I was attending to, but we popped in and out at breaks and when the kids told us someone scored. I did see Kid Rock perform Cowboy, man, I didn't see the rest. I feel in general terms that we as a nation put too much of a spot light on breasts as sexual things. HELLO, does milk come from the store? no, it comes from breasts. I guess hubby and I are either too old fashioned and not prude when it comes to boobs, or we are too new fashioned and see breasts for what they are. MILK MACHINES. We don't see nudity as evil. God didn't make you with clothes on. If someone happens to see your underware, oops, oh well, life goes on. It keeps your lower half warm. I can't stand the way the media blows things out of proportion, then again, I have lost a bit of respect for those 2 too. Don't pull that crap when you got kids watching, idiot. How do you think Michael got in trouble?DUH. Kaiti

We just barely saw the half-time show. We had the super bowl on the livingroom tv with no sound, and DS-13 and I were watching "Radio" on his tv which we had put in the livingroom coffee table. We looked up in time to see janet and justin, but DS said it looked like a fake boob to him. I just left it alone and we finished watching Radio. A wonderful movie by the way, I loved it. DS says we need to buy this one for our collection.

That's my thought too Tinkerbell. Justin had to show up Brittany and boy did he. However, it is not the HUGE deal everyone is making of it. I loved the halftime show. That's my kind of music. I was in no way offended by any of it. I have been known to "flash" myself!! ;D And my 8 year old son was watching the halftime show too. Gee, still not offended or upset by it. The people who are complaining non-stop since it happened are whats keeping this issue on everyones mind and in TV. Had they let it go it probably would have been forgotten by now.

I didn't want to be the first one to bring it up, but I too have been known to flash on occoasion. (but that is a whole different story) And I agree with Rosyred completely (especially about Kid Rock ) We just sold our dairy cows and now DH manages a dairy farm. My kids have no inclination that breasts can also seen sexually. They understand the whole private parts things, but aren't intersted in much more. Look on the bright side, it is an annoying media topic and they are reporting it to death, but at least they are not reporting anything tragic. And I also wondered why Janet Jackson would do that when her brother was in so much trouble right now. Maybe she is mad that he is getting all of the attention. They are like our kids, they must be taught that they are getting the wrong kind of attention. DUH

I just thought of something, if all kids watched animals being born and nursing, there would be more of an understanding.
Lets start a movement.....who's got an animal with babies on the way ;D Kaiti

DS8 got out of bed to watch the halftime show - his little face was quite happy. (And I have never seen him so interested in the news as he was the following day either ) I wasn't offended by it but I am hoping the hullabaloo will cause a back lash in this ridiculous need for shock value. Is this reflective of our culture? I hate to think so but . . . It seems like it is no longer about talent but who can create the most scandalous buzz. Although I am not a personal fan (only because I am not into pop music) - how refreshing to see Jessica Simpson's Pizza Hut commercial - flirting wtih Kermit instead of parading around half naked!

Rosyred, I can see 300 cows and heifers from my kitchen window that are due from today until about 6 months from now, so pick a date, I can "deliver." ;D
