I agree Linda..Jared can weave a story better than some adults..and once he hears one he can repeat it word for word..They just seem more vivid and imaginative.

LOL:
This is sooo true of Gabriel. Verbally he as every kid in his classroom beat by a landslide. The teacher just loves the extent of his vocabulary. Can't spell the words but he uses them in context and knows their meaning....LOL...BIG WORDS TOO!!! LOL
I have to take a few days and think about what way to approach this whole thing. I'm a bit overwhelmed right now with his social issues and I just can't think straight. Thank you all for your imput. I swear sometimes I think I would be in the looney bin if it weren't for you guys and your support. Just knowing that you all have or are walking in my shoes and that I am not alone is what helps me to keep going. Thank you all so so much

Linda,
BTW George...Are you still teaching?
Reply: I didn't teach this year. I finished my twentieth year last year. I had been building a house in the country with my then to be wife and when it became time for the move she left and moved in where she wouldn't have to be away from the grandchildren. I have been living on one of the family ranches for this year. I had just finished my Technology Applications certification before the new single life adventure began. I have turned down offers for positions at technology coordinator for school systems and teaching positions. I am trying to find something that will be new and adventurous. I accomplished way more than I would have thought I could in the twenty years I taught. I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. We surfed until the sun went down every day after school and all weekend. I miss it and think I might find employment near the beach so I can work my way back up the fifteen foot waves. When I sell my house I will be able to afford a good new start. I taught Industrial Technology, Career Technology and Technology Education. I can do just about any kind of work. The adventure seems like a fresh new page I can write on. I have been taking youth formulas for a long time now and they really worked. I have a lot of people that think I am mid-twenty's and I am fourty-seven. I have stayed in atheletic shape, tan, blonde and a twenty-eight waist. I probably will be OK. I love working with the kids that wanted and need a step up. Their successes made them so happy and me seeing their happiness. The true help in education will be by individual teachers. The rest of it is making sure I's are dotted and T's are crossed. "Educational Politics" rules the education world. Thanks for asking Linda. George

my dd can verbally weave a lie into quite a story. she tested into honors english at the communit college she attends, she missed one on the test. she chose not to be in honors and got a steady C in regular English which was composition. she can also watch a movie or tv show and repeat nearly every word of dialogue. it's very distracting if you watch something with her that she's already seen. sometimes i think they have so many ideas in their heads and it comes out on paper the way it does verbally, fast and constant with very little breathing! karen

What, someone called me?
Mom has had to forcibly make me sit down and talk through a paper so I could finish a course.
What works best for me on my own is to make a pseudo outline. Lots of bullet points and such. It's easier to organize points than sentences, so I cut and paste those into where they go. If I have to do something where I'm using quotes from a book, I put the MAJOR points on the outline, type up the full quotes with page numbers where they go, then fill it in from there.
If I come up with a phrase or something I want to use, it becomes a bullet point. You don't have to type everything that passes through your head.
In other news, I'm ok, but not very good at essays if I have to handwrite them. I make an outline as best I can, then just write from there.

seek voc rehab for anything you may need for your child. I did that with mine and they purchased a specialized computer set up in "dyslexic style" for me. It was free . They can help you with adaptive eqiupment and any training needs to help your life get easier. give them a jingle and set an appointment, its a free service and they do wonders, they even helped with tuition costs in college for me.
