Jared had his dr appointment wensday..everything went pretty well, I also asked about having some warts burnt or froze off his hands. For months we have been telling the poor kid to wash his hands better ;D ;D ;D ;D I asked Dr what caused them and he said it is a missing antibody in the body and sooner or later he will develope it. Maybe later. He informed Jared that it had nothing to do with hand washing and they no longer burn or freeze off warts either. They duct tape them. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (he even gave me a copy of a website with instructions) You leave them duict taped for six days. Picture an adhd child leaving duct tape on his fingers for six days. ;D ;D ;D . How will we get him to wash his hands good now.....durn it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (he hasn't gained any weight since Sept but is 1.5 inches taller..if he doesn't gain soon I just know it will be another summer off meds )

What did you do about the duct tape?

Duct tape works. Our doctors do the freezing but tell you the duct tape is better. I recently read in national geographic I think it was the most effective treatment. We tried a couple of freezings last winter. Switched to just duct tape and the emory board. We aren't religious with the taping but the suckers pretty much gone. I can't see it.

Levi went to the Dr. yesterday and had 10 of those little boger warts frozen. His hands are still somewhat numb today. I hope this does work~~doc says if they are still there in 2-3 weeks she will do it again. When I had warts when I was a kid I had them froze off and it worked ok. I hope it works for Levi. On the way home he says "oh shoot I forgot 2 right here " If they get any bigger he will be getting them done as well. We were worried how his hands would be after the freezing because we are going to Michigan Adventure this weekend and I wanted to make sure he wasn't in to much pain but I think he will do ok.

Ouch - what a brave boy...hope he's not hurting. I only took my guy in a couple of times to get his ONE frozen and he was a big baby about....like it really really hurt.

I hate all of you! All of my boys have been battling these darn things for what seems like their whole lives. In fact, Patrick has an appt. in 30 minutes with the doctor to take care of his ugly baby toe warts. Michael had to have acid on a bunch he had on his foot. There was about 10 little ones in the patch the size of a quarter. After the acid, he had one HUGE blood blister, the size of a plum! He couldn't even walk on his foot it was so bad. It eventually came down in size, and has since moved to Patrick's baby toe! Shaun had him on his hands, and we took the kids to the dermatologist because they were so diffuse for all three of them. I got into an explosive fight with the nurse and PA in the office a few months ago... she decided to try to cauterize Patrick's toe since the freezing and the acid hadn't worked. But she didn't explain what she was going to do. She just grabbed his foot and a needle. He screamed, he was TOTALLY FREAKED OUT... and he is my calm child. The PA said to get my kid under control, and she walked out. She came back 15 minutes later and said she was going to try again. No explanation and the kid freaked again, so she walked out again. I finally walked in the hall and requested some attention. She said, I have other patients that need attention too. I said, "well, guess what? One of the other's is in the same room with Patrick, and I already paid for Shaun's treatment, and she better prioritize correctly and quickly!" She called SECURITY on me! OMG! Well, let me tell you, my broom stick and pointy hat emerged in one heck of a hurry! I gave it to them both barrels, full volume! AND THEN DEMANDED IMMEDIATE TREATMENT OR FULL REFUND or I was calling the police for breach of contract! I finally got the stupid PA to explain to Patrick what she was doing, and it took less than a minute to finish the job! Then I called the insurance company and reported the office, they took the dermatologist off their capitation list! And I called the director of the hospital where the office is located, and they got their lease cancelled! Seems Sister Genievieve doesn't approve of inappropriate patient care either! So, on we go. We have tried everything, including duct tape and windex (according to "my big fat greek wedding" everything can be cured by duct tape and windex!). Today is treatment #4 with this doctor, and we are finally getting somewhere. I guess it just shows that any treatment works good for many people, but there will always be that small percentage that has to find an alternate! Cross your fingers that this will be it for Patrick! BTW, anyone know a cure for ugly toe nail fungus? Will Duct Tape work for that?

You know Jareds warts are going away on their own now...he is finally developing the antibodies naturally ...what I want to know is why they cant give the antibodies orally or injection like a vaccine...they know what they are and that the body of some people doesn't produce them enough..so why cant they just produce them and cure the problem for kids who dont have the antibodies yet? For nail fungus there is a pill on the market (prescription only ) ..I have seen the comercials (usually while feeding gramma lunch talk about appetite supressing yuck!

Ugh I hate warts!!! I have been battling them myself since I was a teenager. Always on my hands. I swear I have had over 50 removed! Usually they burn them off - we tried the freezing and that hurt like hades and they came BACK!! So we burn them and they don't come back right on top of the old wart, but I always get them back very close to where they were to begin with. Doctors have been telling me that I have an infection inside of me that causes these dumb things to appear, and they JUST found me a perscription (little green pills) that I have to take 4 times a day to see if that helps to get rid of them for good... So far after a month, I've noticed a tightening around the wart area, but no real decrease in the size. I'm giong to continue trying for another month and see if it gets any better! Lemme know if you want the name of the meds I'm taking and I'll go find it.

Our doctor has a "secret ingredient" he puts on the warts, covers them up, and makes Patrick stay off his foot for 3 days. He then washes it, files it and puts 'effudex' on it, that's prescription stuff. Patrick has been through 5 treatments with this guy, and when he took the bandage off Thursday, it looks like he might just be done! When I think about all the bother we have been through over the boys... no wonder I am rapidly turning grey! I also have a kid with toe nail fungus, and I guess it is time to take him to see the doctor for his "secret ingredient" treatment... I haven't asked for the name of it, he implied that it is not readily available in the US
