First time posting at this site so please extend grace if I do something stupid! I am 41 years old and recently diagnosed with ADHD. My 13 year old son is also ADHD. I have noticed that our worst days occur when the weather is about to change. It seems to be really bad when high pressure gives way to a low barometer.Has anyone else made this connection? I have done tons of searching the net but cannot find specific info other than SADS (seasonal affective disorder syndrome)This affects us year round and on days like today I go bonkers.(irritable, moody,anxious,etc...) Please respond if you can relate. -songwriter

Now that you mention it, yup. Like you said about the barameter and stuff, I haven't seen anything else either like in print but it does seem to affect that way doesn't it.
I think it's all in the differencial makeup of everyone though. You just seem to notice certain things at certain times. Like tonight is a full moon. We actually haven't been too bad today, but it's going to be bad tomorrow, at least that's what I am hoping not
Welcome to the family and post as often as you need Kaiti

Wow, I hadn't thought of this with ADHD. Both my older DS and I have migraines and weather changes do effect us. We both have ADHD & I sometimes wonder if there is a correlation between migraines and ADHD.
I will have to watch and see if the weather effects us with the ADHD. By the way DH and DS2 also have ADHD.

Hmmm ... this is an interesting thought ! ... but I also have to think that SO MANY disorders are affected by changes in the weather. I don't have adhd/add (although my son and his father both do) but I have a vestibular (inner ear) disorder ... which is DEFINITELY affected by changes in the weather .... especially high/low pressure changes.... but as for add/adhd ... Hmmm ..... !?

I know that I am hugely affected by the weather. I get super rammy on rainy days, manic on sunny days, worn out by 10 on hot days and down in the dumps on cold days. I'm just a sensitive girl.

Thank you for the replies- keep 'em coming! Still trying to figure this weather thing out.(today was another cranky day) I get so tired of apologizing to my family for my irritability and blaming everything on the weather.Days like today make me want to pack up and move to california or something. I have made an appointment with a psychiatrist.Maybe I'll have to 'cave' and go the med route. My son is doing better on 'BeCALMd but I still need help. _songwriter

Oh songwriter, go ahead and blame the weather. I have arthritis in my knees, so even though it's two different body parts and functions, it doesn't matter.
Blame away. Pressure of the atmosphere and the type of day effects everyone differently. Think of a helium balloon. When it first gets blown up and is at it's "best" it's flying high, but if you take it where it is hotter or colder, it will effect it in different ways.

WOW! I'm definately going to have to keep an eye on this! I do know that our 12 year old has about 2 "crazy" days a month. Maybe it's the weather or the moon? Then I'll know when to expect it!
Also, his counselor told us yesterday that our son told her that he has a constant ringing in his ear... My dad has the same condition. So we'll be checking into that as well!

Songwriter-go for the medication. The worst thing that can happen is it won't change your life for the better. In that case, you just call up your doctor and get off the medication. Sure made me feel a whole lot better and I can get out of my way and do what I've always wanted to do now.

aaa-alison- Thank you for the reply. I have add(limbic type?) I think from what I have read (Dr. Amen's books) I'm wondering if I would do well on wellbutrin. We'll see what the Docter says- -songwriter

Here I am again-the human barometer. I was so depressed today, all day long. Wish I knew what was going on here.

First 'weird' day in a week or two. Felt grumpy before I even got out of bed. So I looked at the weather picture- Sure enough, L pressure to the east and H pressure to the west. Cold front to the east, warm front to the west. Rain teasing us to the south.Isobars read 1020 to the east, 1016 to the west. This may not mean anything to some people, just common facters that usually accompany my bad days. Don't feel too bad for me- I may be better in a couple of hours (but then again I might get worse) Hope it's sunny and 75 degrees where you live! -songwriter
