He will answer you back. Maybe body language. Maybe vocally. My dog likes to have conversations. She makes interesting barks and whines and growls that probably sound to her a little like our words and syllables. If you talk back she'll answer. She'll talk especially when she wants something like what's on your plate . If she gets obnoxious about it she gets sent to her bed. I'll tolerate a little begging but I draw the line at blackmail

Bud used to get carsick until we put his pillow in the seat and got a doggy seatbelt. I know it sounds funny, but I guess being loose in the car made him nervous. Now he rides just fine.

Bud sings, too, whenever Katie practices her clarinet. He puts his head up like a coyote and WOOOOOOHOOOWWWWW!
Then Katie starts laughing and it messes up the practicing...

My parents have a westie. He is really cute, but if you howl at him he gets all excited and runs around barking. When he was really little my dad used to put on the discovery channel and he would sit right in front of the TV and bark at the animals on it. One time it was polar bears and my sister had a small stuffed polar bear. He must have thought hers was alive too b/c the poor thing didn't make it through the night!
Now he is older and doesn't get so would up!
