Ok, I need some opinions/advice on the fun topic of.....constipation. Ever since we have started our Pfeiffer regimen I am having problems keeping my ds from being constipated. I don't know if it's the probiotics that is doing this, or the diflucan?? Not sure, anyway I'm sticking with what we are doing so need to find a good supplement or solution. We are on the 5-7 fruit/veg a day kick, so I am getting good fiber into him. He drinks a good amount of water. I am also giving him Inuflora (plant based fiber capsule) 2 times a day, and a capsule of Artichoke Leaves 2X a day. I guess because we are chelating the copper and other metals, when he doesn't go regularly, first he gets a little edgy--frustrated with things, small bursts of temper. It can go into a full blown anger thing, but we have been managing to not get past edgy. I'd just like something natural that would be effective. I feel like I'm paying way too much attention to his b.m's and I'd like to have something that would let me not focus my (and his) attention on it quite so much!

I don't know if this will help or not, but my DD has had problems with that in the past - at one point we had to give her enemas, suppositories and then a laxitive for 8 weeks . That's what can happen if you're not paying attention! Since then I give her 2 prunes every morning. Seems to have worked for her.

Are you doing any fish oil at this point? A couple of capsules of that at night and my son goes regularly and without saying "Ow!" Or how about licorice root tea? Also, when I was pregnant my doctor always recommended eating Triscuits.

Yes, we are doing the Rx Omega's, 4 capsules a day, plus an evening primrose oil. The prunes are an idea if I can get him to eat them. I'm not familiar with that tea catatonic--does it taste good, or rather can I make it taste palatable for a kiddos taste buds? I am approaching my one month followup report for Pfeiffer and this is definitely a question I'll pose to them too. Thanks for the ideas.

Licorice root tea tastes good...especially if you add a little milk. It's quite sweet, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and can help with allergy symptoms. If your health food store doesn't have it, Mother Nature does: www.mothernature.com/shop/detail.cfm/sku/29556More info on the impressive benefits of licorice root: www.metromkt.net/viable/1licoric.shtmlAnyone on Feingold should be aware that licorice root is high salicylate.
