Kimmers -
Although we are not on supplements of any kind at the moment or the Feingold, we, too, have the occasional perfect day. It is baffling indeed because you think, "She is capable of being just fine, absolutely normal." You beat your head against the wall trying to figure out what went right. When we were trying supplements, I thought, "Somehow, we've arrived at the perfect place, chemically." And then it disappears. The frustrating thing is that nothing has changed. The supplements are the same. The amounts are the same. For us, the meds were same. So, what just happened there?
I'll add this theory to the mix. I know if something really good happens to my daughter, i.e. she has a playdate with someone she really likes, or she wins an award, etc. She's on top of the world. Doesn't seem to matter whether she's on meds or not. She's in such a fabulous frame of mind, THAT ALONE seems to override ALL of her other problems. Don't know if anyone else has seen that happen in their child but we do every now and then, not often, just occasionally.

I've seen this happen too. After a wonderful week, he'll start falling apart and as far as I can tell, NOTHING is different. I don't get it. I have a theory as well. I think he may have actual seasonal allergies of some type and it aggravates his ADHD symptoms rather than giving him a stuffy nose and headache as it does his brother and me. So I'm keeping a notebook of pollen levels. Too soon to know anything, but it does seem that some of the tree pollens are associated with him behaving badly. Wishful thinking, maybe.

Cat-
Will you post your results on the allergy test please?! I have suspected my son has some type of allergies as well because he is stuffed up alot and gets watery eyes and bad behavior seems to go along with all of this as well. Maybe it is just a coincidence but if there is some truth to it, I would love to know!
swmom-
We see this in our son too, however it is usually very short-lived. You can remind him 100 times that he needs to behave in order for him to get any kind of rewards but it is still pretty rare that he thinks this way. Have you noticed any difference now that you are not on supplements anymore? I took my son off of them for the month of December to see what would happen and we had our little monster back 24/7...it was awful. It took until mid-February before we saw improvement again! The major reason I took him off was because of the same reason you mentioned: it was almost like we hit a plateau, he was starting to slip backwards even though we didn't change anything about his supplements. It is very frustrating!
