Last night we sat down for him to read me a story from his new reading book, Quick as a Cricket. He is in 1st grade and we have been reading to him all his life. So we start out the story (about 30 pages). He reads the first two pages pretty easy. Then the second two. I start thinking hmmm..... maybe he has memorized part of the story. So I cover up the words on the page. He recited them like he was reading them, just by looking at the pictures. After a few more pages of covering up the words, I tested my next theory....I held up the book so he couldn't see it and asked him what was next. Again word for word he recited the remaining 20 pages only by me prompting him with 'what is next...'. Amazing that he is able to pick up all that detail when he seems so distracted. I am not surprised because he has always had a natural ability to remember things. I guess I am jealous, I cannot remember someone's name 3 seconds after hearing it. I cannot wait to see how he uses this talent in the future. Miles
