If you do pay for it yourself you might still try to get the insurance company to compensate later. Sometimes it helps to get a lawyer to write up a letter for you. Believe me, I used to work for doctors and handled insurance for patients. I know what's it's like to have an insurance company put me on hold for 3 hours. It would seem they do so intentionally. Often if I would hang up I couldn't get through at all when I would call back for the rest of the day. They would keep me on hold for a long time then hang up on me. When I would call back I would get a message that they were gone for the day. And CHAMPUS, you don't ever want to deal with them. Medicaid will avoid making a payment for months then suddenly send you 3 checks for the same bill. One of those will be sent to the hospital and 2 to the doctor's office.

That reminds me, after Mike stopped working at one job and was still on the "probation" period that all new workers go through, we didn't have any insurance. Guess who got to go to the hospital for stitches? YUP doing dishes. I cut between the thumb and finger, it was nasty.
Anyhow, when we got the bills, I couldn't believe what was charged for everything. We got double billed for a few things. I called and tlak to the hospital, and told them that I wanted revised bills sent out. They told to just pay what I thought was right and make a note about the doubles.
I told them that I wanted the readjustments. They never sent them, so it went to collections....Then I went round and round with that.......its a pain
Hope you've heard some positive news here lately Becky

I did call at noon on Thursday and the lady I was working with had went home sick, so I tried Friday, but she was still out. So, at any rate the ins co did not call me back at all. But my speech and language therapy was approved, so that is great. He goes in on Wednesday at 8AM for them to evaul. him. I'll call the Omsbudsman lady on Monday and see what she says. They still have not got in conact with me about setting up a plan for him to be seen.

The therapist had to reschedule the eval form this morning to next week. She called and said she had sick kids, and from the background noise at her house, she did.
I did call the Omsbudsman back on Monday and she was really mad that the ins. co still had not called me. So she called them again, and then called me to follow-up today with what they said and I told I still have not heard from them. She is really mad herself, she said that she takes this kind of stuff personally.
I told her that we are going to go privately and pay for it b/c I can't keep waiting around for them. Summer is slipping away and I am no closer to getting any help than I was a month ago. (or December fot that matter) She asked if it was OK with me if she still persued it and I said it was fine and I appriciate her help. She said she was sure they'd call by noon. It's 2:00 here and no call. I am supposed to call her back if they don't respond today, but I am sort of scared to, she is really mad. I could tell on the phone that I would not like to be on the receiving end of her wrath.
So now I am waiting for the people from the private place to call me back. They are trying to work him in as soon as they can. They had to square a few things away b/c they will travel to the office they have closest to us so I am sure that takes a little planning. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have something on the calandar.
I think I am moving ahead. At least I didn't have to argue with Jerry about this. He signed all the consent forms without a fight and even voluntered to fix up the spare room in the new house asap so that if we do go with the home therapy for next school year Honey will have his own little classroom. That meant a lot to me since Jerry usually has a hard time accepting that Honey needs the extra help. I am proud of how far he has come in the last few weeks.

No matter how I worded it, it came out wrong. You said exactly what I was trying to. I did get a call from WEAP today and they will see him already on Tuesday at noon!! I am so happy with how fast they could get him in. I am also happy b/c they have agreed to accept his testing from the school since they would be doing the same ones, to help with the cost. Then in the fall the school can redo them if we need to. This is turning out well so far...thanks...Becky
