Lisle, This is not the doctor from the Amen Clinic, it's our regular behavioral ped. I wish I was closer to the Clinic as I think the psychiatrist there (Dr. Bluestein) was wonderful. We are several hundred miles away so I've given the results of the scans, etc. and the medical report from the Amen Clinic to this doctor and have been working with his recommendations. He agrees with the findings from the scans (how could he not?) but wants to use different meds. I'm not sure if I want to try the Strat again. What I would really like to do is the Feingold diet. I haven't given the Tyrosine yet either.
BBW, He wasn't on the Depakote when we tried the Strattera last year. So, the doctor is thinking this will make a difference. I think I should give it a try. The bad part is that it didn't work and seemed to make the mood issue worse. It felt like a wasted 6 weeks and toward the end it was an emotional rollercoaster.
Then there is still the issue of the sleepwalking and peeing everywhere. This is pushing me over the edge. I have him sleeping on the couch outside my bedroom door so I can hear when he gets up and direct him to the bathroom. If I don't catch him in time there is no telling where he will pee. Needless to say I never really sleep sound, always waiting for his footsteps. He gets up several times a night and walks around looking for what he thinks is the toilet. Now what do you do about that?

Lisle, That's really unusual that your doctor says the Depakote and lithium would not be effective? If this is so then what does he think is effective? These are the standard and proven treatments for mood disorders and problems dealing with the temporal lobes.

Oh Ohmama, when I read about the peeing I just about lost it. I thought we were the only ones who went through stuff like that. In our case, my son goes into the bathroom AND FORGETS TO COME OUT!! Yesterday he came home from school and he was RAGING. Turns out he forgot to eat his lunch. Oy. Anyway, I just had to jump in there. Let us know how the strat goes. I understand your worries! Just make sure you check the MM site for all the info on target doses & everything. Perhaps it will help. (Though I'm sure you've already checked it all out. I get the impression you're not one to leave stones unturned! ) dfp

Ohmama Hi, I´am jumping in here, I just read your "peeing everywhere"-sentance, I´am so sorry, that is so frustrating When ds was lot younger, he found the toilet but not theactual sink(?) in there, that drove me insane. I guess you´ve tried all kind of night-light´s, alarm-matresse´s and all. sorry I have no miracle to help you, I´ve run out of them ;D I just wanted to say:hang in there, this will get better some day!!! Hug´s! Marja

dfp, Yes, Mayleng has been advising me on the Strattera over there. I'm glad I'm not the only one with the pee problems. I sure hope this is something he will outgrow soon.
Finnmom, How old was your son when he was actually able to find the toilet bowl? Not that it would apply to my boy but I would like to get some idea of how long it will take.

Our son just quit sleeping on the floor in our bedroom. We had him sleep there so I could keep track of him during the night. What I finally ended up doing is getting up every hour with him and walking him to the bathroom. I also locked our door so he couldn't get out. It took about 6 months-he is still wearing pull-ups to bed but he no longer wanders during the night and he is getting much, much better at bladder control. I only get up once during the night now and wake him to go to the bathroom. It is a lot of work - but it seemed to pay off in our son's case.

Ohmama My ds was about 6½ when that problem was over, he kind a growth out of it. He had no issue´s with bedwetting, only wandering and peeing just nearly beside the toilet. He still wander´s around the house when he need´s to go to bathroom, but I dont have to worry about mistake´s anymore YIP-PEEE! I hope you´ll have a peacefull night! Marja
