If you are still not happy put your foot down I think you know what is best...most moms do After all..you're the one living with him, NOT the doc!

Well I can't believe it but day one went GREAT!!! He even ate more then he normally does. Maybe he just needed to be upped to the correct dose. Christy I told the doctor that 60 mg was his target dose and that is when she said lets put him at that and see what happens. After thinking about it today he has grown taller and gained weight since last year. The reason I remember is because I had to fight with the insurance company to give us 25 mg 2x day (which in the end they lost money because of our set copay). They wanted him to stay at the 40 or move up to the 60 and I refused so they had to get conformation from the doctor that is what she wanted can't fight it ;D ;D I hope this continues~~~like we have said before if this is the med that is working I won't change it~~We will know when the time comes for a change (At least I hope we do )

~~long story short dr gives us 60 mg strattera (to take at night now ) and 10mg ritilan to take at noon and if he needs some to help with homework 5 mgs ritilan to help. Now I am giving him med 2-3 times a day~~~ isn't that what long acting pills are for? When I asked her about ritilan LA she said that it will work for 8 hrs and then at night he would be very hungry (no problem Levi needs to gain weight) and if need be I could just give him a short acting one for homework (not like he would need it every night). [ Cheryl, that is EXACTLY why I took Cami off the Strat when she went on it! I started her on Strat to get her OFF stims so when we saw the need to add them back, I thought, "why do both? if she's got to take Ritalin again, then why not just make it be Ritalin only?" Anyway, for her the Ritalin LA would last thru the school day, taking it at 6:45 am, and she takes Focalin when she gets home for a homework booster when needed. If this is what you think Levi needs, then call up that doc and tell them that's what you want. You pay his salary, so he must listen. And hey, don't sweat letting them "talk you into" the other. You like anyone else thinks docs know what they are talking about. We just forget sometimes that doc isn't the one living with patient. lol

So I did a little experiment today. I didn't give Levi any strattera and just a 10 mg tablet of ritalin and man what a difference!! he could concentrate on his work and after it wore off he was so hungry that he ate 2 plate fulls at supper . I know he still has strattera in his system but he was a totally different kid. Almost like he could do what is expected of him then be the kid he can be when his work is all done (instead of begging and pleading to do the work and finding 50 ways to get out of it~~by the time he does this play time is over and its time for bed). I am more convienced now that I am going to insisit on a change.

I remember a few times when I had to tell Paul's Doctor what was working and what was not!!! Christy is right....you have to live with him....not the doc.
