My son just went to the doctor last week, and the doctor and I have decided that my sons meds. needed to be changed. He was on Dexidrine 5mg. twice a day. His doctor did not want to switch him all the way up to Dexidrine 10mg. So, he wants to give him his regular dose of Dexidrine during the day, and also give him a dose of Strattera at night. I have not heard of this. I am just wondering out there if anyone has heard of this or have they had this twist of medications for themselves or thier child. I would love to get some feed back on this before I start to give my child this. I know he is the doctor, but this makes me nervous!!

Angelia My daughter is on Strattera, Concerta and Guanfacine (for tics)and doing better than on any other med combo she has taken.
Strattera does quite well with Brooke's hyperness, but it doesn't do much to help here attentiveness. That was why we started giving her the stimulant Concerta again. Although we are using half the dose of Concerta than before. Typically docors will do that.
Since Dexedrine is a stimulant, I would expect similar results for your child, although all chidren are different.
One last thing about Strattera, is that it takes about 6 weeks at target dose to see the full benefits of it. So you have to be willing to give it time to work. The most common side effects of Strattera (and usually only for the first few days) are headache, and upset stomach. Which is often why doctors advise you to give it at night.
I would make sure to ask my doctor anything I was unsure about.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Dad2Brooke: Thankyou, so much for your post. I had just have not read up alot on strattera, and I like to be totally aware of all the medicines that my son is on, and I have not heard of the twist of having them on both meds. at once. I feel so much better knowing now that someone else out there is on a twist of meds. I hope that this is the ticket for him, because I just hate to change meds. because he is also susceptible to tics, and as of right now he has no tics. So, I am praying that the change of meds. does not bring them out again!
