I was told to take one 3mg melatonin at bedtime to help me sleep.I have been having very strange scary dreams. Is it the melatonin or am I just having problems? Take 40mg strattera every a.m. and am doing ok with it but am having some sleeping problems.

I have never tried melatonin, so I don't know if this can happen, but there are a few other things you can try.
I take generic Benedryl a lot. My doc even let me take that when I was pregnant. 2 of those and I am out like a light! Benedryl works wonders for my kids also.
Other wise, my MIL takes Tylenol PM and swears by it. She also has arthritas so she has a need for the pain reliever.

Wow, I know I suggested this to you in another post. I hope it's not my fault? I take 60 mg. strattera in the am, and for a while I was having sleep problems too. I have been taking Melatonin on a semi regular basis and it seems to really help me, but I HAVE noticed that I have a lot more dreams and sometimes they ARE weird. I have never had any scary dreams though.
I don't know if this is really true, but on another site that I belong to, I had posted that I was thinking about taking Benadryl and everyone freaked out and said DO NOT take Benadryl with Strattera! I checked it out and couldn't find any decisive info, but just in case, I haven't taken it at all.
Maybe you should check with the pharmacist and see if Tylenol PM is okay to combine with Strattera, and if it is, try that. If the scary dreams continue, then it probably isn't the Melatonin, but if they go away, then maybe it just doesn't work well with your chemistry.
How long have you been taking Strattera? I've been taking it since the beginning of February, and I think my body is getting adjusted. I don't seem to be having as many sleep problems recently, even without the Melatonin. I hope you'll have the same results! Good Luck.

;DHey Shardstar! I have been on Strattera only about 3 weeks. I think I have slept through the night maybe once in those three weeks. We are also having allergy problems at my house so no one is sleeping well. I sure don't like the dreams involving Tony Soprano and the grim reaper. :PI am hoping that my body will get used to the strattera, the concerta made me CRAZY.(wild mood swings, severe agitation, depression getting worse etc)

LOL! Tony Soprano and the Grim reaper, huh? That does indeed sound scary!
I hope you'll find a way to get some sleep until your body gets used to the Strat. I guess if you don't get used to it soon, you could ask your dr. about splitting the dose into two, to lessen the side effects. It's really is a trial and error type of thing!
