Sierra I hope your son feel´s already better, but I thought to trough my 2 cent´s in here ;D It´s higly possible that this viral infection cause´s the dizzines via low blood pressure. I have quite low bp as normal, whan Í am sick I just cant stand still and felt SO dizzy. Beeing sick, dehydrating even a little bit and low sugarlever because of sicknes and not eating does this. It usually get´s o´kay by it self, when he feel´s good enough to eat, ofcourse you have to make shure he drink´s enough as said. You should monitor this very carefully, if there is some drawback or he doesn´t get better, than go to see your doc again! good luck! Marja

This has been one hard winter. Poor Mikie has stuffy nose and mild to moderate cough yet again. He woke like 11pm saying his ear hurt so I gave him some childrens tylenol cough and cold and he is not awake yet and it is almost 530am. He went to sleep like by 8pm so, not sure if I should keep him home or not. fever is gone and he has missed sooo much. We will see how it is when i wake him up in about 30 minutes.

sierra -
Does your son have allergies? I do and I've had a time trying to get them under control. I have this constant post nasal drip that drives me nuts. I've tried everything - zyrtec D, allegra D, now claritin D. Nothing's working. I've been really dizzy, fuzzyheaded, my head feels like a cottonball. It's a strange feeling. Plus, I think it's affected my equilibrium somehow. I've been getting this weird feeling while driving. Bizarre. Anyway, yesterday at my allergist's office, I was complaining about this to a nurse, and she gave me a much stronger antihistimine and decogestant - with much more Sudafed she said. She said it sounded like the congestion was affecting my ears and that can really affect your equilibrium. So, I took the new stuff - Restahist? - and it's made a big difference. That dizzy, off-balance feeling is starting to go away.
Sorry, this is so long. But thought it might apply, especially your child has allergies - many kids with ADHD do. Have you had him tested?

Good question. If it was Li'l Sprout I'd be real concerned about allergies being at the root. Bean Sprout doesn't have allergies. He got a cold or flu virus this weekend and then two nights later started in with the dizzies. Never ran much of a fever. The dizziness was accompanied by low blood pressure that dipped even lower. His cold symptoms of cough and stuffy nose come and go to. The doc said when he does get stuffed up even though his ears are clear it could give him some equilibrium trouble.
He still gets a little light headed if he moves too quick. We have a home electronic BP monitor but I don't think it's really designed for tracking low blood pressure. More for catching high BP issues. And since he has the habit of moving quick he gets light headed for a few seconds frequently. Until he has a good day where he doesn't need a couple of naps and can maneuver around without any staggering I'm keeping him home. The 3 minute stampedes from one class to the next are out of the question.

Sounds like it's not allergies then, unless the stuff(I know this is gross)coming from his nose is clear and not yellow or green. If it's clear, it may very well be allergies. Hope it isn't though. Allergies are difficult to manage.

Hot Dang! About 10:00 last night he just threw off whatever it was. Wasn't weak kneed or dizzy at all. Had to prove it by jumping down the stairs. I was mad he'd try such a stunt after the week he's been through. But glad he felt so good. He's working on homework today but He'll get together with a friend later and probably head over to Taco Bell. His first trip out the house in 6 days that won't involve seeing a doctor!
