A few days ago Dd came home very upset because a boy was giving a bad time to a friend of hers who is Jewish. Dd told me that this girl was crying and Dd didn't like it. When I went to Super Target I found a Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) card and bought it so that Dd could give it to her friend. (I didn't know it but the holiday isn't until October.) I am really proud of Dd standing up for her friends.Dd also tried to get the Choir teacher to sing multinational songs at the Winter Festival but all the teacher would let them sing was a series of songs about Frosty the Snowman. I have given birth to a fighter and I am greatly encouraging it.

What a great daughter you have and she sure does make a good friend too . I can't believe that the teacher wouldn't teach other songs, heck our music teacher even teaches the kids songs to do in sign language. Your daughter is a fighter for what she believes in and there is nothing wrong with that

GOOD FOR ROSE
(As far as the singing, around here, I was about to put that nothing can have religious overtones, but thinking about it, we have Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa stuff hung at the school.)
Keep up the great parenting MOM, she gets it from you and your doing a great job of SHOWING her how to act and be a great friend

Sweety ... you have a special daughter there !! .. and I agree ENCOURAGE THIS .... it IS a very diverse world and those who recognise it, acknowledge it, stand up for others rights and in JOIN IN with their differences are in a much, much stronger position than those who fail to understand other's religions, races etc.... and it is through MISunderstanding and sheer IGNORANCE that racism and bigotry is born!!
OK ... OFF my soap box ... but GOOD FOR YOU ROSE !!

Tara made me proud last week. I'm not too sure of the Muslim religion, but a couple of kids in Tara's class were fasting.
There was one boy trying to put stuff in their face around lunch time, and Tara told him to knock it off.
Thankfully she told me, and I asked her what she thought. She said it didn't matter what religion anyone was, but the boy was being out and out mean, and she didn't like it......so she told him so
That's my girl, I'll claim her this time
