Carlson's Fish Oil vs Nordic Naturals....
« Thread Started on Feb 2, 2004, 5:31pm »

Anyone use Carlson's Fish Oil? Is it better than the Nordic Naturals?

Here's a web site with some product information on it.

http://www.naturalpharmacy.com/supplement-facts/carlson-fish-oil-200

thanks!

John,
Carlsons has 40 servings of 1 teaspoon per serving size. Nordic Naturals has 48 servings of 1/2 teaspoon per serving size. It would seem Carlsons wins here except for the following:

To compare with the 1/2 teaspoon in Nordic Naturals, you get 400mg EPA and 250mg DHA per 1/2 teaspoon with Carlsons. With Nordic Naturals you get 875mg EPA and 625mg DHA per 1/2 teaspoon. Needless to say Nordic Naturals gives you more mg's.

While Carlsons would seem to be a lower price, what you get quality wise and strength is not as good. Hence the saying, "you get what you pay for". The real selling point for me is the fact that Nordic Naturals is pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled. Carlsons does not make this claim as far as I can see on that website. Quality always wins when you are dealing with brain disorder issues.

 Comparison of Fish Oil

Carlson's Omega-3 Fish Oil has 800 EPA and 500 DHA per 1 teaspoon for 6.7 fl oz or 40 servings

And Nordic Naturals Omega-3 has 450 EPA and 300 DHA per 1/2 teaspoon for 4 fl oz. or 48 servings.

Not sure, ohmama, where you got you EPA and DHA numbers from. Both of the above are off of their websites.

John,
I was making the comparison with the "Ultimate Omega Liquid" not the "Omega 3 Liquid". The Ultimate formula is stronger.

To compare the Carlsons with the Omega 3 Liquid is different....
I use the Ultimate Omega Liquid so gave you the wrong comparison, sorry. I forgot you use the Omega 3 Liquid with 450mg EPA & 300mg DHA.

The correct comparison with the Omega 3 Liquid is not what I gave you but you may want to consider the other stronger formula called "Ultimate Omega Liquid". It's a better comparison for what you would get.

If your not totally confused by now I would be amazed. You must have thought I was crazy with my advice? I hope you have a sense of humor?

otherwise, I would go crazy with all of this ADHD stuff!!!

Thanks for the suggestion of the Ultimate Omega-3. I believe the reason behind the Omega-3 liquid was the lemon flavor.

Ultimate Omega-3 is just plain, correct?

I'll check Nordic Naturals website.

Thanks!

John,
Both are lemon flavored. If you decide on this you can get a better price (save $6 per bottle) if you get it from http://www.vnfnutrition.com rather than the Nordic Naturals site.

thanks for the tip on VNF. i've been ordering from them already and saw where both products are carried by them.

i'm just wondering which is better. both say they pass certain types of product testing for various things and both come from the Norway waters.

just not sure which to go with at this point. Omega-3 Liquid from Nordic Naturals is/appears to be working well. however, my wife's aunt who is a vendor for various vitamins and such, but doesn't sell Carlson's, suggested that we use them.

not sure which to use after this bottle of Nordic Naturals is gone.

any help?
