Sorry my information in earlier post is wrong. We are going Monday 5/23 for an information session on Connections Academy, not TRECA. Our local school district's Digital Academy has closed due to lack of enrollment, we could go with Akron Public School's Digital Academy (TRECA) but they require that the student go to an 18 day training class and the student and parent must go to their building 2 days a week to meet with teachers. It probably would not work out for us. So now we are trying to find out more about Connection's program. But at this point I am leaning towards Ohio Virtual Academy. Thank you all for your advise, it helps to know that I can count on you to let me know how it really is.

Hello, I'm homeschooling my 11 year old son for the third year now. Last year, 5th grade, wore me out completely. Son was taking forever to get the work done. This year I've made a schedule of class times similar to what middle school is like. Basically, Math is from 8 to 9 am and if the work is not done during that time it has to wait until later. Science is from 9 to 10 am and if there's extra time he can work on finishing the Math then. Break is at 10 am. History is at 10:15 to 11 am. Language Arts is from 11 to 12. Lunch is from 12 to 1 pm. And then there's a 2 hour window between 1 and 3 to finish up. If the work is not done by then, it is "homework". I know this sounds strict, but it is working out MUCH better for my son. Yesterday, I was under the weather and didn't start school at the regular time. The "schedule" was not in place and the day turned into a minor disaster. Today we are back on track and things are going much better. Just wanted to share what seems to be working for us. I can SO relate to "losing it"! Been there, done that! : )

Talkersmom, welcome to the family
I don't homeschool, but if I did your schedule would be a basis that I would like to think I could use.
Stability and schedules are the key factors, with our kids. Gives them a sense of security because they know what is going to happen when it happens.....or at least what is supposed to happen anyhow
Look around, we have some regulars that homeschool as you can see, so if there is anything you need just ask.

Hi talkersmom! Welcome aboard.
I love the idea of a set schedule... I just am too ADHD myself to get it started. I have written it up, just can't get it implemented! I can't tell you the last time I even had a meal the same time TWO DAYS IN A ROW! It just isn't like me!
I need someone to sit the kids down and say... here is what and when you are going to do... just do it! But, I haven't figured out how I can be that someone!
Again, welcome to the family, and good luck with this exciting experience!!!

Talkersmom and a big welcome.
I also love your idea of the schedule, I dont homeschool, but if I would, I would need something like that to keep me insane and all the work done
Rule´s, schedule´s and a strickt environment is so important to at least my son, I can imagine they learn better when they know what´s coming next and when will it all be over for the day.

Man you guys just hit it on the nail I am determined to get a schedule going here. I am soooo frustrated with everything today. The condition of the house and the lack of motivation for school work the lack of interest in making the schoolwork look nice. I had a fit and we canceled school for the rest of the day and we cleaned the kitchen next comes the living room and school room after a break then when they are taking a break I am going out into our Florida room with a big garbage bag to get rid of all the yucky and broken toys and make it a place where the little guys can actually play during the day while we do school work! Then we are going to have an evening routine which includes making sure the dishes are clean so I don'thave to wash them to make lunch or find the sink so I can wash them to make lunch!! AAAAAAAHHH look out!
