Stimulant induced tics - any answers?
« Thread Started on Oct 14, 2005, 9:16am »

My son takes abilify and a stimulant. This combo works extremely well with him, but he has developed a couple of tics from the stimulant. He licks his lips until they literally have sores on them and open and closes his mouth. Has anyone had experience with this when you have kept them on stimulants even though they tic and did you find a solution to the tics?

We are trying focalin xr which by the way is working great. He is taking 20 mg and 10 mg regular after school. The XR is lasting about 9-10 hours. We switched from Concerta to Focalin XR to see if the tics would subside. The licking of his lips has gotten some better but he is still opening his mouth a lot.
